Saturday’s Manayunk Brew Fest takes on home brewing theme
The Manayunk Brewing Company will host its 15th Annual Brew Fest this weekend.
The event kicks off at 1 p.m. Saturday and runs through 5 p.m. at the Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant on Main Street.
Beer enthusiasts, 21 and over, can purchase tickets at $45 per person and will be able to take part in this year’s theme of home brewing. They will also get a free sampling glass as a souvenir, featuring the beer festival logo.
“We try to have a theme each year and this year we decided since all three of the brewers here started out as home brewers we figured that would be our theme,” said Evan Fritz a brewer and director of sales for the brewing company.
Every year local breweries are invited to come out to showcase their best beers at the event.
The Manayunk Brewing Company tries to include as many local breweries as they can from South Jersey, Philadelphia and other regions throughout the Pennsylvania.
The owner of Keystone Home Brew will also be attending the event for the first time this year. Keystone Home Brew has helped out with other brew related events, but during this festival the owner will have some information about home brewing along with some simple equipment that home brewers use.
Another local brewery, Barley Legal, will be demonstrating the actual process of brewing.
Fritz said the event gives everybody a chance to “kick back and relax a little bit and just have an easy going day sampling our local beers.”
