‘Rocky’ road leads back to Philly with ‘Creed’ movie
ListenSylvester Stallone and the cast of his new movie came to Philadelphia Friday.
They talked to the media from a familiar place.
The top of the Art Museum steps, which Stallone made famous in the “Rocky” movies, was the setting to talk about his new film “Creed.” But Stallone said it is not another “Rocky” flick
“Oh, absolutely without a doubt, Rocky’s story has been pretty much documented,” said Stallone, a Philadelphia native. “This movie is called ‘Creed,’ so this is following this young man’s journey through all the trial and tribulations that lay ahead.”
This movie focuses on the son of Apollo Creed, the character Rocky fought in the first movie.
Michael B. Jordan, who plays the younger Creed, said he did his own fight scenes.
“I took a few real punches for sure. Thanks, Sly, for that one,” said Jordan, 28.
“I know, you deserved it,” quipped Stallone, 69.
The movie hits screens Thanksgiving weekend, 40 years after the first “Rocky.”
Already there’s talk about a sequel.
