Right NEast/Wrong NEast: When in doubt, Action News picks a neighborhood at random

We’d like a little help from our readers on this one.

Tell us how you think Action News decided 8300 Bustleton Avenue — actually in Bells Corner — is in Fox Chase.

When a car crashed into a storefront Sunday, Sept. 11, on that block, Channel 6 rushed to the scene to grab a photo and cover the story. Somewhere en route from Action News’ Main Line headquarters, it was decided the crash happened in Fox Chase.

Usually when reporters have a tough time identifying a neighborhood, they go with a familiar street name. You know, like Bustleton Avenue, which in this case, would have been pretty accurate.

Better luck next time, Action News.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
