Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Picking neighborhoods out of a hat

A lot of the mistakes featured in Right NEast/Wrong NEast stem from street name confusion (ie: calling a neighborhood Frankford just because it’s near Frankford Avenue).

We can honestly say we have no idea where CBS was coming from when this report ran Sunday.

A car accident at Roosevelt Boulevard and Devereaux Avenue — most commonly referred to as West Mayfair — was reported as Torresdale. Maybe the reporter got confused because the injured parties were taken to Aria Health Torresdale? But, as the article implies, the hospital isn’t nearby, so it doesn’t appear that connection was made either.

Instead, it looks like CBS has officially given up and decided to just call neighborhoods whatever sounds good at any given time. If nothing else, we can always count on the station’s laziness.
