Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Feltonville – so close, yet so far

By Shannon McDonald

We almost missed this one. A story from the Inquirer on Wednesday profiled Wander Nunez, the 19-year-old Dominican the Phillies selected in the 48th round of the draft.

And according to the story, Nunez lives in an apartment above a bodega in the Northeast. Imagine our excitement to learn a potential Phillie calls the NEast home. No such luck. The outfielder lives in Feltonville.

Though the story mentions the Northeast a few times, only in the caption does it give Nunez’s specific neighborhood. And it’s not in the NEast. Some will disagree, given its proximity, but Feltonville doesn’t make the cut, since it’s below the Adams/Whitaker/Boulevard intersection.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
