Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Daily News says Burholme is ‘Far Northeast’

We get it, Daily News. You don’t own an updated map and you don’t send reporters to the Northeast unless someone commits a crime or gets elected to office.

So allow us to explain, then, that Burholme is absolutely not in the Far Northeast (Far should be capitalized, by the way; it isn’t in your story).

The Far Northeast begins along Grant Avenue, north of the Northeast Airport. Burholme begins at Tyson Avenue which is roughly three miles south.

We imagine you made this error by selecting Cottman Avenue as your near/far boundary, as some tend to do. We’ve never heard legacy media outlets refer to Cottman and Frankford or Mayfair as being in the Far Northeast when reporters are sent there to cover sports championships. If it’s not Far then, it isn’t Far now.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
