Reading Terminal Market rolls out Instacart for delivery in an hour or less

Holiday specialty shopping just got a whole lot simpler today when Instacart launched its Reading Terminal Market service.
In certain parts of the Philadelphia metro area, you can now get the Terminal’s most sought-after specialties delivered to your door in under an hour, all with a tap or mouseclick. Thirty-two purveyors are participating in this, the first phase of the Terminal’s roll-out, with promises of more to come.
Of course there’s the specialty meats, cheeses, poultry, and produce to choose from. But it’s the stuff sweet dreams are made of that has us really excited. Termini’s cupcakes, Bassett’s Ice Cream, Famous 4th Street Cookies, Metropolitan Breads and Old City Coffee are now at your beck and call.
Sunday brunch in bed, anyone?
If you’re already an Instacart member, you’re familiar with the service. But for those of us who’ve held out, and just recently logged in, the excitement is palatable.
Sure, Instacart already sources from a handful of area retailers like BJ’s Wholesale Club, ACME and Super Fresh. But what you may not realize is, Whole Foods, Green Aisle Grocery and Fine Wine & Good Spirits are also on their list of purveyors.
Yes. That means you can get booze delivered, too.
And it’s not just us here in the city. Instacart offers its services all the way to the Main Line, including parts of Upper Darby, Northwest Philadelphia and Montgomery County.
First time users can get free delivery on orders of $10 or more. Or opt for the Cadillac of cart-services and nix the delivery fees altogether, in lieu of an annual membership. For the one-off users, delivery fees range from $3.99 for two hour delivery to $5.99 for one hour delivery when you spend $35 or more.
