President makes federal aid available for Delaware following Hurricane Irene

Delaware’s southern two counties and their local governments are eligible to apply for federal aid for costs related to Hurricane Irene.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently announced that expenses related to planning for the storm and repairing or replacing facilities after the hurricane may be covered.  Local governments and certain non-profit organizations may apply for assistance now that President Obama has declared a disaster for Delaware.  Expenses must have occurred between August 25th and August 31st, 2011.  CLICK HERE for more information.  The storm damaged or destroyed dozens of homes, left tens of thousands of people without power – some for several days – and led to the evacuation of thousands of vacationers at the beaches.
