Police shooting leaves Trenton teen hospitalized

A teenage boy who was shot and wounded while being pursued by police had reached into his waistband during the foot chase, authorities said Monday.

The shooting occurred Friday night in Trenton near Calhoun Street.

A Mercer County sheriff’s officer and two state police troopers were responding to reports of shots fired when they saw three males walking in the area. When the officers went to question them, authorities said, the 14-year-old ran off and was pursued by the sheriff’s officer and one of the troopers.

The other trooper remained at the scene with the two other males.
