Police say an apparent drag-racing crash in Philadelphia has left three people dead, one person in critical condition and a car split in half.

The wreck happened just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Bustleton section of Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say the car was traveling at a high rate of speed around a sharp turn when it clipped a curb and went out of control. The car hit a tree and split into two pieces.

Two women and a man were pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police say the victims were in their late teens or early 20s.
