Police connect serial bank robber to recent robbery at Mt. Airy bank [updated]

Update: This suspect is also believed to be responsible for a robbery on Dec. 26 at 11 a.m. that took place at the Wells Fargo Bank at 1575 N. 52nd St. and one on Dec. 23 at 4:46 p.m. at the PNC Bank located at 5900 N. Broad St.

The FBI and Philadelphia Police are looking to identify and locate a suspect they believe to be responsible for three recent bank robberies and one attempted robbery over the last two weeks including one in Mt. Airy. 

On robberies occured on Dec. 22 at 10:07 a.m. at the Prudential Savings Bank branch located at 1722 S. Broad St.; on Dec. 18 at the Valley Green Bank branch located at 7226 Germantown Ave.; and on Dec. 15 at the PNC Bank branch located at 230 S. Broad St. The attempted robbery took place on Dec. 11 at the Beneficial Bank branch at 1600 Chestnut St.

In each of the incidents, the suspect entered the bank and handed a teller a threatening demand note. After obtaining cash, the suspect fled the area of the bank on foot. There have been no physical injuries as a result of any of these robberies. No weapons have been used.

The subject is described as a black male in his 30s, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build, medium complexion. He is seen wearing eyeglasses in all of the robberies except one.

There may be a reward for information leading to this subject’s capture. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
