Tenants named for XFINITY Live! entertainment complex

The development once known as Philly Live! is dead. Rising from the ashes: XFINITY Live!

XFINITY as in Comcast’s broadband service. Comcast has bought the naming rights to the sports-entertainment complex on the former site of Philadelphia’s Spectrum in South Philly.

The amorphous development also has a list of tenants for the first time, including The Original Philadelphia Cheesesteak Co.

“A great high-end steakhouse,” adds Rob Johnson, the project’s vice president of marketing.

“The Professional Bull Riders Association has this concept they do around the country. PBR Philly … features a mechanical bull on one side of the room and a great Tex-Mex menu,” he said.

Johnson says most of about 55,000 square feet is now accounted for–with the latest deal made Wednesday night.

A retail store will be part of XFINITY Live!, according to Johnson, although not the large shopping center from the original plan. But Johnson said the venue will still have enough draws to keep it from becoming a dead zone outside of game days.

The complex “is going to have enough events, enough great food, enough family fun activities, events to get people down here,” he said.

He says before XFINITY can open in April, it will need to hire 750 people.
