Philly firefighters’ hope for charges in fatal fire doused by DA

The Philadelphia firefighters union says there should have been charges in the warehouse fire that killed two of its members. The district attorney says there just isn’t enough to prosecute.

Firefighters union head Joe Schulle says his union is upset District Attorney Seth Williams did not go after the owners of a Kensington warehouse that burned, killing two firefighters.”We’re asking the district attorney to reconsider his position do the right things for our neighborhoods that are suffering from this type of calculated neglect and do the right thing by the family of Bob Neary and Dan Sweeney,” said Schulle. “Charging these parasites and make a statement that this type of behavior will no longer be tolerated in the city of Philadelphia. We understand it’s a difficult case but it’s a fight worth fighting.”Williams says there’s not enough evidence to file charges and even a movie attorney would win if he did prosecute.”You could have been a person who took and passed the bar the 20th time like ‘My Cousin Vinny’ and beat this case,” quipped Williams.Williams says city officials can prevent future tragedies by cracking down on owners who neglect their properties.
