Phillies mural artist: I wish more people knew about PAFA

In true Philly fashion, the artist behind the Phillies mural is a local guy.

David McShane is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and has even taught classes there. So when uwishunu asked him what he wants people to know about Philadelphia, McShane had his answer.
As part of the “Philly 101” video series, uwishunu has asked 101 Philadelphians what they want others to know about the city. The answers are as varied as the interviews, but given McShane’s background, his reply isn’t too surprising.

The artist said he wants people to appreciate PAFA not just as an educational institution, but as a museum celebrating American-produced works.

The Phillies mural will appear this year above the Walnut Street Bridge.
