Manayunk boutique to host ‘Fashionably Pink’ fundrasier at Phila U. tonight

Manayunk’s Octavio Miles Boutique will host a ‘Fashionably Pink’ fundraiser tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at Philadelphia University’s Downs Hall in East Falls.

Along with featuring clothing and accessories from Octavio Miles Boutique, a fashion show will showcase items from fellow Manayunk retailers VAMP and TAG. All proceeds from the event will be donated to co-sponsor, The Susan G. Komen Foundation.

“Breast cancer is something that affects everyone either directly or indirectly and everybody has women in their lives that have been touched by it in some way so we just wanted to give back,” said Kenyon Holley, co-owner of Octavio Miles Boutique.

The event is a larger-scale version of an event Holley and his business partner, Andre Bond, sponsored last year called Passionately Pink. Fashionably Pink will feature a speaker from the Susan G. Komen Foundation as well as a survivor, poetry, shopping and the fashion show. Holley said he hopes that the event will spread further awareness in the Manayunk community as the disease has touched his life as well.

“My godmother, Roberta, has had breast cancer for the past six years and we recently found out that she is not doing well and so I will be dedicating tomorrow’s event to her,” Holley said.

The fashion show will also be featuring three individual designers, two of which are Philadelphia University students. General admission costs $10 and $5 for students.
