One dead, one wounded in Delaware shooting

New Castle County police are investigating the shooting death of a Philadelphia man and the wounding of another in the northern Delaware community of Ardentown.

 

The dead man has been identified as Dayvon Neal, 25, of the 700 block of South 11th Street in Philadelphia.   The wounded man was found at Harvey and Love Lane, which is a few blocks away from the shooting location.

New Castle County Police Spokesman, Corporal John Weglarz said police were called to the 1700 block of Apple Tree Lane in Ardentown after a report of multiple shots fired. Neal was pronounced dead at the scene from a gun shot wound to the upper body. The other victim found a few blocks from the scene is also from Philadelphia. He was taken to Wilmington Hospital to be treated for his wounds.

Police canine units were called in, but turned up nothing. Investigators spent the day talking to residents in Ardentown, but have not identified any suspects in the shooting. They are asking anyone who might have information to call crime stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. They can also go on line to www.nccpd.com to contact New Castle County police.
