One dead in Wilmington shooting

29-year-old Brian Brooks was shot and killed on Maryland Ave. in Wilmington Tuesday night.
The Wilmington man was shot in the upper chest around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Maryland Ave. Police were alerted to the shooting by 911 calls and a Shot Spotter notification of gunfire. Officers found Brooks on the porch of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound.
Brooks was treated on the scene by New Castle County paramedics and then transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say the investigation into the shooting remains active and ongoing.
