On ‘Radio Times’: Creating a stronger middle-class

Today on Radio Times, Ganesh Sitaraman, told listeners that economic inequality is destroying our democracy.

He argues in his new book, “The Crisis of the Middle-Class Constitution,” that the founders wanted a strong middle class. Instead, the growing income gap has led to a powerful and wealthy elite that have too much influence in Congress.

He says populists and progressives agree on a number of solutions.

“First, we have to think about what we can do to take action on the economic side to restructure our economy so it works for people,” Sitaraman said.
