Officer injured by fleeing car in Strawberry Mansion

A Philadelphia police officer is at Temple University Hospital this afternoon after being hit by a car in the Strawberry Mansion section of the city.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 32nd Street and Susquehanna Avenue.

The suspect began driving away and ran over the legs of one of the responding officers who fired his gun at the suspect.

A police spokeswoman says it’s unclear if the officer hit anything when he opened fire.

According to the Associated Press, the suspect and vehicle remain on the loose. Police say they’re looking for a silver Chevrolet Impala with an Ohio license plate.
