Obama policies induce surge of illegal immigration into U.S. Migrants see through administration lies that they won’t be allowed to stay.

According to the NY Times, an unprecedented 52,000 unaccompanied minors have been detained after illegally entering the U.S. from Mexico since October 2013. Also 39,000 adults have been detained after entering illegally while accompanying children, also a record. Other reports estimate that total unaccompanied minors can be expected to total 90,000 or more by the end of the current fiscal year, and 240,000 illegal immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas alone.

President Obama denies that the surge is because of his policies of lax enforcement of U.S. immigration law. He says it’s because of gang violence in Central America. But then he and Vice President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Johnson are urging Central Americans to remain in their countries anyway, and please not violate our immigration laws.

Many press reports document that migrants are coming to the U.S. in response to lax immigration enforcement by the Obama administration. They have heard about his policy of prosecutorial discretion making deportation of illegal aliens a low priority unless they are convicted of serious crimes. They’ve also heard about his 2012 executive order deferring action for childhood arrivals. Is anyone surprised that deferring enforcement action against illegal childhood arrivals results in more such arrivals?

Obama administration officials point out that the recent arrivals don’t technically qualify for any of the administration’s relief measures for illegal aliens. Federal officials say that migrants are being misinformed by smugglers making big profits transporting illegal aliens into the U.S.

But who’s better informed about what the Obama administration’s policies actually look like on the ground, officials sitting in their Washington offices, or the migrants themselves who are regularly sending reports of their progress to their friends and relatives back home, confirming what the smugglers are saying?

None of the detained minors or families are being deported. They are being provided with food, shelter, clothing, and transportation away from the border. Minors are being released into the custody of their illegal alien parents already living and working illegally in the U.S., where they will then enroll in public school at no cost. What a country!

Yes, they are scheduled for hearings before an immigration judge far into the future. If they actually show up for their hearings instead of blending in with the millions of aliens illegally living and working and attending public schools in the U.S., they will then be able to make claims for asylum.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson may say that “there is no free pass” into the U.S. But the illegal immigrants surging across our borders know otherwise. They know that under the current administration’s policies they are here to stay, and many more are on the way. The administration has no way of knowing whether illegal immigrants without papers are minors or not, or gang members or not.

And now we have increasing gang violence right here in the United States. Coincidence?
