Nutter warns those who live near rivers, Christie calls for Shore evacuation
Update: The evacuation order for Cape May County is now mandatory. The order has been issued for 8 a.m. Morey’s Piers in Wildwood will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Original report: Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and N.J. Gov. Chris Christie both made evacuation announcements today, issuing different warning levels for their respective areas.
Nutter has asked that people who live near the Delaware or Schuylkill rivers to be ready to evacute should the need arise, and Christie is encouraging residents and visitors to evacute the Shore points by Friday.
If you had plans to hit the beach the weekend, the guv advises against it, and according to the Associated Press report, Christie will make evacuations mandatory if people don’t heed his warning.
