Northeast Tree Tenders seeks volunteers for Saturday planting

Northeast Tree Tenders will plant 40 trees Saturday, but only with the help of volunteers.

Hasan Malik, the group’s founder, is in search of additional volunteers to help with planting and enjoy lunch after.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the Holmesburg Rec Center at Rhawn and Ditman streets before heading out to plant trees all over the region. They’ll meet back at the rec center for lunch at noon.

Interested participants can sign up to get involved. The event is rain or shine, and volunteers should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.

Northeast Tree Tenders started in 2008, and this year marks the sixth spring planting.
