No more free benefits for West Deptford elected officials

It’s the end of the road for elected officials and township employees in West Deptford, where the township committee voted last night to eliminate free health insurance benefits.

All eligible employees will now contribute to their medical, dental and prescription drug coverage based on their salary scale.

Future elected officials will come in paying for benefits, as West Deptford Patch reports, as weill current elected officials who don’t already fall under the township’s old benefits policy language. Those who meet certain employment length requirements qualify for lifetime benefits.
