NJ Dems pick 5th District Assembly candidates

Democratic leaders have picked two candidates to run for Assembly in southern New Jersey’s 5th Legislative District.

Camden County Surrogate Patricia Egan Jones replaces Assemblyman Angel Fuentes, who resigned his seat on July 1.

Camden Councilman Arthur Barclay replaces primary winner Holly Cass.

Jones and Barclay join the ticket led by state Sen. Nilsa Cruz-Perez, the first Latina to serve in the New Jersey Legislature. Cruz-Perez faces her first Senate election in November after being appointed to fill the unexpired term of now-Congressman Donald Norcross in December 2014.
