N.J. Assembly panel approves same-day marriage bill
New Jersey is on its way to same-day marriages now that the Assembly Budget Committee has a approved such a bill.
Couples currently have to wait three days before tying the knot in N.J., but this bill would wipe that requirement and also allow residents to apply for a license in the town they want to get married in, not just their hometowns.
NJ.com reports legislators hope the move will create jobs and boost tourism by making it easier to wed in the Garden State.
