The 61st annual Night in Venice will again light up Ocean City, NJ’s bay on Saturday evening, July 11.

Watercraft decked out in colorful lights will set sail for the 3-mile parade along the bay from the Ocean City-Longport Bridge to Tennessee Ave.  This year’s unofficial theme is “Dancing Under the Stars”.

Miss Night in Venice and her court will lead the fleet, which includes a “legendary” mystery guest from the Philadelphia Flyers and the weather team from Philadelphia’s ABC affiliate, Channel 6 Action News.

The 2015 parade’s Grand Marshall will be John Stauffer owner of Johnson’s Popcorn. The boardwalk establishment is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

Hundreds of decorated bay front homes and businesses will also be participating in the night’s festivities.  Prizes will be awarded to both boats and buildings.

Free grandstand seating will be set up at street ends by the bay from Battersea Rd. to 16th St. and at Tennessee Ave.

Tickets are also available to view the parade from the Bayside Center at 5th and Bay Aves. The price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 years old and under. Gates open at 4 p.m. and attendees are welcome to bring their own blankets and chairs. Picnic dining is permitted, but alcohol is prohibited. There will be crafts, games and face painting for the kids, plus live music from The Good Tymes Band from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Parking for the parade is free and so is a shuttle service running between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. from the Airport parking lot (25th and Bay Aves.), the soccer field at Tennessee Ave., the Community Center (1735 Simpson Ave). and the Bayside Center.

Those in town for the weekend may want to note the temporary parking restrictions that will enforced along Bay Ave. and certain side streets, starting at midnight on Friday, July 10.
