The city of Philadelphia has a new slogan and marketing campaign to try to lure business to town.

The new slogan. “PHL Here for the Making,” borrows from the abbreviation the airport and main train station both use.

Jack Ferguson of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, said Wednesday his group is using global messaging to target everyone from conventioneers to manufacturers in an effort to promote the city.

“Elements of the campaign will be offered as open source, and open source means that anybody can use what we are producing,” he said. ” We then can use these as collective promotions to extend to the conventioneer to the meeting planner to business locations, to the global travel and growth.”

While she was not consulted about the new slogan and campaign, Meryl Levitz of Visit Philly, the tourism and marketing group, said she welcomes more people marketing the city.

“The goal should be to supplement each other’s messaging, that’s what’s key to it,” she said.

No budget has been specified for the campaign, although Comcast has agreed to air spots for free as part of the effort.
