New poll finds Booker still has double digit lead
The latest poll in the U.S. Senate race in New Jersey shows Democrat Cory Booker maintaining a double-digit advantage over Republican challenger Jeff Bell.
The Quinnipiac University Poll finds that Booker has the backing of 51 percent of likely voters while 40 percent support Bell.
Maurice Carroll is the poll’s assistant director. He says Booker is a Democratic celebrity in New Jersey and 65 percent of likely voters don’t know much about Bell.
“His message is that he’s not Booker, that he’s a Republican. He’s an old fashioned conservative Republican but he doesn’t register. He doesn’t have any money”, said Carroll.
Bell has been pushing for a return to the gold standard — linking the value of the dollar to a specific amount of gold, but Carroll says that issue is not resonating with voters.
