New Jersey town hit by Sandy mourns firefighter

Authorities have released the name of a volunteer firefighter who died while fighting a four-alarm fire at a commercial building.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office says 54-year-old Robert Meyer was a member of Union Hose Fire Co. #1 in Union Beach.

The office says Meyer had left the burning building and collapsed outside of it Sunday evening.

An autopsy is pending.
