New Castle County Council President announces candidacy for Delaware’s lone Congressional seat

The President of New Castle County Council plans to run for Delaware’s only seat in the US House of Representatives.

Republican Tom Kovach is already kicking off his campaign for the 2012 election by officially filing paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.

Democrat John Carney, Delaware’s former Lieutenant Governor, was elected last year.  Kovach won a special election for County Council President in January.  He also previously won a special election for the state House of Representatives, but lost  his bid for re-election in 2010.

“Americans are working harder than ever to try to make ends meet but Washington can’t seem to get its act together,” Kovach said in a statement.  “Frustrations with our government are not new, but a better response is necessary from Washington in order to emerge from this economic crisis.”
