TOUR: Lantern House
Monday, May 20, 5:30-7pm. 1230 Marlborough Street. Lantern House is a residence and studio workspace for architects Richard and Kimberly Miller, build out of a single-story stable in Fishtown. The AIA Philadelphia Design Committee is hosting a tour of the house, which received the 2012 AIA Philadelphia Merit Award. Light refreshments provided, tour space limited. Reserve your space in advance. Tour is free for AIA members, $10 for non-members.

Tuesday, May 21, 7am-8pm. Find your polling place here. It may not be the sexiest election season, but in Tuesday’s primary elections Philadelphians will be voting on a raft of court positions – from traffic to municipal – as well as the hotly contested Democratic primary for City Controller. LECTURE: BUILDING PHILADELPHIA: Misfits and Heroes – Modernism in the Delaware Valley
Tuesday, May 21, 6-8pm, Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch St. As part of the 10-part lecture series about the architecture, history and politics of Philadelphia, Penn Architectural Archives Curator Bill Whitaker will present on modern design in the Delaware Valley. Individual lectures cost $20, $15 for AIA and Preservation Alliance members, $10 for students/AIA Associates. Register online.
CELEBRATE: Paine’s Park Ribbon Cutting
Wednesday, May 22, 4-6pm. Paine’s Park on Schuylkill Banks, MLK Drive and Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Celebrate the opening of Paine’s Park at an official ribbon-cutting, with pro skater demos by Chris Cole, Kerry Getz, and Tom Asta; and treats from Guapos Tacos, Lucky Old Souls, Rita’s, and La Colombe.
