Massive fire destroys Delaware bowling alley [photos]

The former Pike Creek Bowling Alley was completely gutted by an early Sunday morning fire.

The fire started around 5 a.m. Sunday at the building on Pike Creek Center Blvd. Firefighters from Mill Creek Fire Company found heavy fire and smoke coming from the building when they arrived. The fire quickly spread to three alarms, drawing numerous fire companies to battle the flames.

The fire was brought under control without any injuries. The building, which also housed the Charcoal Pit Restaurant, is considered a complete loss. Damage is estimated at $500,000.

Deputies with the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating how the fire started.
