Man in skeleton mask tries to rob Delaware bank

Police say James Clay tried to rob the County Bank in Laurel Wednesday afternoon, using a skeleton mask to disguise his face.

The 64-year-old suspect from Georgetown is now facing charges including attempted robbery, wearing a disguise during a felony, and terroristic threatening.  Police say he walked into the bank wearing a skeleton mask and handed the teller a note stating he was there to rob the bank.  The teller told him she didn’t have any money, so the suspect left.

Witnesses provided details about the car used in the getaway, and police stopped a car matching the description a short time later.  Police say there was evidence in the car linking Clay to the robbery attempt.

He’s now being held on $37,000 cash bail.
