Longtime New Jersey legislative official Kathy Crotty dies

A woman who played an influential behind-the-scenes role in New Jersey government for nearly 30 years has died.

The death of Kathy Crotty was announced Saturday by New Jersey Policy Perspective, a left-leaning think tank where she had been a trustee since 2010 and had served as board chairwoman since December.

A cause of death was not disclosed.

Before joining NJPP, Crotty was the executive director of the New Jersey Senate Democrats office for 23 years before retiring in 2009. During that time she served as chair of the Statehouse Joint Management Commission and played a leadership role in the restoration and modernization of the Statehouse.
