Lonegan feeling confident heading into special election
The campaign for Wednesday’s special election for a U.S. Senate seat from New Jersey is nearing an end. Republican candidate Steve Lonegan is making a series of stops around the state.
Lonegan got an enthusiastic welcome from a few dozen supporters at Ocean County Republican headquarters.”I can’t thank you guys enough for the momentum that we’re feeling across the state of New Jersey,” he responded.Lonegan believes the election is not just a vote for a Senate candidate. “Our state is going to cast a referendum vote on the Obama agenda, on what we think of Obamacare, of this explosion of government, this massive explosion of debt and spending that is intruding into our individual liberties every single day,” he said.Even though the latest poll shows he trails Democrat Cory Booker by 10 points, Lonegan says he has the support of a majority of independent voters and is confident he’s going to win.
