Loko shortage

Now that Four Loko has officially been deemed a hazard, people all over Philadelphia are stocking up on the stuff. Reporter Carolyn Beeler talked to beer distributors about shortages on the alcohol energy drink.

Carolyn reports: Beer distributors in Philadelphia say they’ve sold out of Four Loko, the caffeine-infused malt liquor tallboys that the FDA effectively banned yesterday. Erick Taing, the manager at Stone’s Beverage Center in Francisville, says they sold out of their supply in a few hours yesterday afternoon. He guesses people are stocking up before the company starts producing only a caffeine-free formula.

Perhaps the FDA will now require the Four Loko makers to include graphic warning labels on the packaging, much like what’s been proposed for tobacco products.
