Local organizations offer assistance to Haiti one year after quake

One year after an earthquake in Haiti killed tens of thousands of people and reduced many areas to rubble, efforts continue in Delaware to assist in the recovery.
The Haiti Family Initiative was formed after a medical relief team spent 90 days in Haiti.

The Haiti Delaware Alliance Foundation was founded in order to help the people of Jacmel rebuild their community and their lives following the 2010 earthquake.

Numerous other volunteer and aid groups with Delaware connections continue to monitor the efforts in Haiti to recover from the earthquake and a recent outbreak of cholera.
