Livestream of falcon nest in downtown Harrisburg returns

Two peregrine falcons are back at their nest atop a government building in downtown Harrisburg, and people can watch their activities through a livestream on the Internet.

People can now monitor year-round the nest on the 15th floor of the Department of Environmental Protection’s Rachel Carson State Office Building.

It’s the time of year when the 13-year-old male shares food and displays his flying and hunting skills.

Eggs could appear within several weeks, and hatch sometime in May.

The male has had a nest there for 11 years. The 7-year-old female has been there for four years.

There have been 69 eggs at the nest since 2000, and 58 of them have hatched.

It’s considered one of the most productive peregrine falcon nests in Pennsylvania.
