Leadership of Council on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention announced

Governor Markell will name the leaders of his Council on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention tonight at The Shands House, on grounds of A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children.

Markell created the Council by executive order back in May in order to help young people healthy eating and exercise habits, and to help adults kick bad habits and focus on their health.  The council will develop a strategy to promote healthy living and track its ability to reduce obesity and other risk factors.  The Governor’s office says more than 60% of state residents are overweight or obese.
