Late State Rep. honored by Dept. of Correction

The Delaware Dept. of Correction will rename its Women’s Work Release Treatment Center in New Castle after a State Rep. who died last year.

The treatment center will be renamed the Hazel D. Plant Women’s Treatment Facility in a ceremony at the facility this afternoon.  The name change was approved by state lawmakers through House Bill 208, which was approved in June.  Plant died last November after serving the 2nd District for more than 10 years in the seat held for years by her husband Al Plant, who died a decade ago.

The treatment center opened in October 2005 and is the only all-female facility of its kind in the State. Residents participate in a comprehensive substance treatment program with a work release component.
