Knife-wielding shoplifter threatens employee of East Falls Rite Aid

Police are seeking a suspect in the robbery of a Rite Aid in East Falls.

On June 22 at 4:15 p.m. an unknown male entered the Rite Aid at 3601 Midvale Ave. and was seen putting a bottle of laundry detergent inside a black shoulder bag.

When he tried leaving the store without payment, an employee attempted to stop the suspect from leaving. At that point, the suspect pushed the employee out of the way and then fled the store through the parking lot towards the train tracks.

When a second employee tried chasing the suspect, he turned and pulled a pocket knife threatening the employee. The suspect then fled the area on foot taking the laundry detergent.
