High turnout for first 8th District Burglary Seminar

The first in a series of monthly Burglary Seminar/Luncheons hosted by the 8th PDAC was a huge success on Monday at Cannstatter’s Volksfest-Verein, with a combination of 65 residents and businesses in attendance.

Unfortunately, because of the overwhelming response and financial restrictions, the acceptance of additional reservations had to be discontinued a week prior to the event.

Capt. Deborah Kelly of the 8th District gave a detailed and informative two-hour, visual aid presentation of burglary facts and, importantly, tips on how both residents and businesses can prevent burglaries in the future due to its alarming increase in recent months in the Far Northeast.

Attendees also enjoyed a delicious luncheon, handouts of preventive measures, and each attendee will be given two decals for placement on their premises in an attempt to thwart potential burglars. Our thanks to 8th District Community Relations Officer Rudolph Muller for handling the seminar’s details and to Nationwide Insurance of 2865 Holme Ave. for the generous financial support and raffle prizes.  A second seminar will be scheduled in March.
