Philadelphia is giving shoppers a holiday gift.

The lure shoppers, Mayor Michael Nutter says the city is giving visitors limited free parking.

“We’re again offering free meter parking throughout the city every Saturday after 11 am every Saturday from now until New Years day,” he said.

Vince Fenerty of the Philadelphia Parking Authority says his team has fixed parking kiosks so they don’t accidentally charge people who don’t know about the special deal. That hasn’t been the case in the past.

“The kiosk will still be working but it will not accept money on Saturday after 11 o’clock,” he said.

The free parking only applies to metered spaces. Parking Authority garages including the one at 15th and Arch streets will feature $8 Saturday deal through the holidays.
