Fled Philly for papal weekend? Here’s what you’re missing

Whether you headed to the shore or bunkered down in the burbs, a lot of you avoided the city this weekend. And while the militarized, semi-apocolyptic emptiness of it all is both strange and eerie, there’s a friendly excitement in the air.

Philadelphians love an outdoor festival. Any excuse to wander a trafficless street with an option for street food and the possibility of a screen printed purchase brings the crowds to the party.

Bikes ruled the streets, many babies were kissed, tears shed, and prayers said — and that’s only Saturday.

So if you skipped town, you’re missing something good.
