Philly firefighters union collects funds for kids’ coats
ListenPhiladelphia’s firefighters are collecting funds to keep children in the city warm.
Operation Warm has firefighters asking donors to contribute money to buy new winter coats for Philadelphia children. Firefighters Local 22 President Andrew Thomas said the Philadelphia effort is part of a national campaign.
“The more we can do to help the people who are without, the better off they will be later,” he said. “It’s part of our mission to make sure little people are warm in the wintertime. There is no reason a why a child should go to school without a coat in the wintertime.”
Checks can be dropped off at the firefighters union hall, 415 N. Fifth St., and online donations can be made through www.operationwarm.org.
