Financial stalemate continues in Harrisburg
ListenOn the eve of the Pennsylvania budget deadline, Gov. Tom Wolf, a Democrat, and the Republican-majority Legislature are still far apart on a deal.
Wolf has said the GOP budget is balanced on stopgaps that worsen the state’s long-term structural deficit and that it doesn’t include nearly enough money for education programs.
The GOP, meanwhile, has blocked Wolf’s proposed tax on shale gas production to raise revenue for the state’s schools.
