Facing murder trial, former Colwyn cop pleads guilty in Montco stalking case

A former suburban Philadelphia police officer, accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, has pleaded guilty in a separate stalking case.

Stephen Rozniakowski’s lawyer said his client took the plea deal with Montgomery County prosecutors Monday so he can focus on his murder trial. He was sentenced to 23 months in prison.

In Delaware County, Rozniakowski faces criminal homicide murder and other charges related to the death of Valerie Morrow.

Authorities alleged that the part-time Colwyn officer killed Morrow and shot her daughter last year in Glenolden before he was wounded by the victim’s husband, also a part-time officer.

They said Rozniakowski began stalking and harassing Morrow after she broke off their relationship.

The cases are unrelated, but prosecutors in Delaware County could use Monday’s stalking case as evidence in the murder trial.
