Ex-Pa. company official sentenced in fraud case
A former co-owner of a northeastern Pennsylvania construction company has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison in a fraud case involving a federal program designed to increase minority participation in government contracts.
A federal judge in Harrisburg also fined 68-year-old Ernest Fink Jr. of Orwigsburg $21,500 on Monday. Fink, former chief operating officer of Schuylkill Products Inc. and its subsidiary CDS Engineers Inc., pleaded guilty in 2010 to conspiracy to defraud the United States.
Former company president Joseph Nagle was sentenced two weeks ago to seven years in prison.
Prosecutors said that the companies used a minority-owned firm in Connecticut as a front to get $136 million worth of federally funded highway work in Pennsylvania between 1993 and 2008.
