State officials have ruled out influenza as the cause of death of a preschool student in New Jersey.
The state Health Department completed a series of tests over the weekend.
The 4-year-old attended Yardville Elementary School in Hamilton Township and died at home on Thursday.Hamilton Health Officer Jeff Plunkett told The Times of Trenton the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to start testing to determine whether enterovirus, which has sickened children in New Jersey and 21 other states, is to blame.
School officials and parents will meet with Plunkett on Monday night. The boy’s name has not been released.
