‘Empty Bowls’ event helps North Light fight hunger

An international grassroots movement to help fight hunger is making a big impact at North Light Community Center in Manayunk.

Volunteers from North Light and St. Timothy’s Church in Roxborough gathered this weekend at the community center to create clay bowls for a church fundraiser.

More than 94 bowls were handcrafted under the direction of North Light potter, Meredith Twardowski, which will all be used for the ‘Empty Bowls’ soup dinner fundraiser at St. Timothy’s on April 2.

With a cash donation, guests will be able to keep their bowls as a reminder of all of the empty bowls in the world.
